Weak America

       The Western world is WEAK. 

       I remember first hearing about Chinese schooling methods way back in the early 80’s when I was a student.

  We felt sorry for them, thought we were lucky because our school system was so relaxed and we only had    6+ hours of classes five days a week. In our minds the Chinese kids were being pushed too hard and being put under too much  pressure.  How unfair it was to steal away their childhoods like that.

  Now in retrospect…….

  I am not a journalist, which means I won’t be heavily researching the things I write about, however I

do think its important to have a few facts to back up ones argument, so I did a quick Google search on this topic, and in less than a minute I was watching a trailer for what looks like a very informative documentary that makes my point better than I ever could.

  The documentary is called 2 Million Minutes and it was produced by an American Entrepreneur by the name of  Bob Compton.  The doc follows three sets of high school kids through their routine,. American, East Indian and Chinese., to see how these students are using their “2 million minutes” of high school time.

  I want to see this one.  The trailer on its own spoke volumes however. 

  The American (this includes Canada) kids are just doing the minimum of whats expected of them. It seems that school is more of a place of social gathering than a place to secure ones future.  Our kids go to school so they can hang out with their friends and to try to get closer to the opposite sex.  Is anybody going there to learn?

   Here where I live we are in a doctor crisis.  There aren’t enough to go around.  Why?  Partially because there aren’t enough people around here BECOMING doctors.  There are fewer people around here becoming anything.  Every day I notice more and more EDUCATED positions being filled by East Indians.  Almost all our pharmacists, some health care professionals, and I’ve noticed recently, engineers and new tech positions are also going to these folks.

  I was born here in Canada, I am of white European descent, and I can’t get a decent job in the town I grew up in because my educational system failed me.  I was resentful, why are all these foreigners getting hired in here!  Well, we aren’t qualified any more.  G.E. would rather ship some guy all the way from India, cause he’s smarter.
