What is Going on in Schools Today?

School used to be taken seriously. It was a respected institute to most. Now it seems that children are disrespecting staff and each other in alarming manners. The students have learned that nobody can touch them and take advantage of any opportunity to rebel and make problems. This student at a local middle school brought 2 bottles of alcohol to school. He did not get expelled or even detention. What is going on??? This is an example of why they think it’s ok because there is no consequence.

Children run around the class and disrupt anyone that may be trying to actually study and learn. What do they get…a mark…a point against them. What is that and it’s so not effective. Teachers and staff at the schools have no power or control anymore. They try…they have guidelines that they are not allowed to work around. So they are restricted , bound by laws made to protect the children and teachers but what good is it really doing? The children are unruly and careless. What does that say about parenting?

As a parent it is humiliating. My children are no exception to trying to take advantage of teachers. They have learned really fast just what buttons to push. The only difference is that I have created a communication between myself and the teachers. So when they talk back or do anything unsatisfactory their fun is taken away at home. I know this does not always work for every parent or every child but it is a start. What is the old saying…”It takes a village.” It really does. Constant communication and unity. That is key to making this mess work.
