Why Irish Teachers Can Be So Much More

We have a great education system here on our small little engine, but are lacking in teachers to back it up.

Yawn. Stammer. Coffee. Three main aspects of modern teachers in Ireland. Where is the passion gone? All these young adults who  do not seem up to the task of teaching  the youth of our nation. Children are the future, are they not? Then why are we letting these blundering idiots take the reins? People are now getting into teaching who seem totally mercenary and don’t give a hoot about the students. There was a time where you would have tough interviews to obtain a place in a course for teaching.

Now you get a moderate leaving certificate, do an arts degree and your in. There seems to be no incentive left to become a teacher. Any person who’s intelligence is above average will realise that they can make far more money in a different profession. That’s that group gone. There is others who go on to do manual labour. Another group gone. The extremely intelligent aren’t enticed by teaching. Gone. Who’s left you ask? The confused young adults who are still recovering from the hangover of teenagehood. Not all of them go onto teach, but of course if they wanted to they could. The youth of our nation may be beginning to despair!
