Why You Should Choose Uc Santa Cruz

College finances are often the most difficult part about higher education. Many private universities estimate $40,000+ a year. This ends up totaling to over $160,000 just for four years of undergraduate education! In these times of economic recession, how can anyone expect to afford that? UC Santa Cruz, however, is a much more affordable option. UCSC’s cost of attendance living on campus for the 2009-2010 school year is $28,093, almost 50% less than private universities! This makes UCSC a prime contender financially.

Finally, we come to location. The UC Santa Cruz campus is located in the hills of Santa Cruz, California, overlooking the Monterey Bay and Pacific Ocean. The campus is surrounded by forests of California Redwoods and Giant Sequoias. The wildlife (deer, squirrels, birds) is extremely friendly and does not mind living in close proximity to the campus. UCSC is a short 10 minute bus ride away from downtown Santa Cruz, and about 15 minutes from the beach and famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. UC Santa Cruz is ranked as the 8th most beautiful campus in the U.S.!

UC Santa Cruz was not my first choice originally. After touring the campus, reading some literature on the campus, and enjoying the scenery and friendly people, UCSC instantly became my top choice university. I highly recommend the University of California – Santa Cruz to all high school seniors. It will be the best and easiest decision you’ll make!
