Wounds and Acne Affect Job Interview
YOU need to be concerned about a birthmark, a scar on the face, or acne can affect your chances at a job interview.

YOU need to be concerned about a birthmark, a scar on the face, or acne can affect your chances at a job interview, there is new evidence that shows your concern may be right.
Mikki Hebl from Rice University and Juan Madera from the University of Houston analyzed the interviews of people with and without a scar or birthmark on his face. It is not seen no sign that the interviewer had been discriminated against people with scars or birthmarks. That’s good news, bad news but the interviewer seemed to be bothered by facial characteristics. As a result, they will remember the less relevant information about prospective employees.
Madera describes, “When looked at another person during a conversation, your attention is naturally directed in a triangular pattern around the eyes and mouth. We monitor the amount of attention outside the region and found that the more the interviewer to notice features of stigma on the face, the less they remembered about the content the interview. This causes a decrease in the candidate’s chances.
Meanwhile, Hebl said, “The bottom line is that how your face can significantly affect the success of an interview.”
As quoted from CBS News.com, and Madera he hopes his research will help raise awareness about this issue which is characterized as another type of discrimination in the workplace. The findings are published online in the Journal of Applied Psychology.
