African Americans

Should African American history be taught in the classroom? The answer is yes. Why not? They, as a race, had been bought to America on ships bullit of wood. They sat in the bowels of the boat and rowed their way here. They then had been taken off the boat and sold. That’s not a way to live, but they grow and as people I feel that we should learn from them. What it was like to be them in the past? Rosa Parks was a very good place to start. I don’t remember much about it from school, but I do believe she had gotten on a bus. She had wanted to sit down. The back was full and the only sit left was the one up front. She sat down. She was older and I am sure she was tired after work , but she knew deep down in her heart that this would lead to much more. The next thing that happened was a man had gotten on the bus. He was white. He felt that he was owed the sit and wanted it. He had her arrested. The one thing I never understood was the fact back then they thought that being black would rub of. A Lot of whites didn’t let the eat or drink with them. I find that sad. They never got to know others. They could have shared so much together. Water fountains, lunch counters and even girls baseball. It was all separate. That’s a lonely way to live . Alot of whites felt that it would rub off. That they would become black.

 From then on it was a part of history. We need to have our children understand.  It paved the way for our first black president. The years past would have never allowed that. We are a changed society and that shows. With hopes and promise Obama will take us into another era.  We as a Americans should pull together and share our history with all. It shows them how and why we are. Black Americans played a big part in our lives and that we needed. The reason we need that is to become what we are destiny to be. America . We stand together and we fight together. There shouldn’t be anymore black and white. It should be just us. So I do feel like we should show our children what it was like make then. Show them he past and middle not to mention the future.
