Are African Americans Really Free?

Dictionary.com’s first definition of free is to enjoy personal rights or liberties, such as a person whom is not in slavery.

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls there is a new form of slavery in which has been on the rise for years. This form of slavery is hard to see through the untrained eyes with smaller print writing, false advertisements and misrepresented agreements.

The slavery that African Americans have all come to know and love is credit card debt, high end student loans, and sub prime loans on mortgages just to name a few. Now of course blacks aren’t being physically beaten and hanged, but many are receiving a beat down by high interest loans, APR rates and mortgage payments.

One would say yes if you had good credit, you wouldn’t have to worry about it. Which is a valid point to formulate; as a matter of fact an article on good credit would be a rather interesting article to compose. The American credit system is in comparison to the old grandfather clause, whereas your grandfather had to vote in order for you to vote. America saw how racist, evil and biased that was, well so is the credit industry and the lenders whom issue the credit.

The disturbing reference with credit and African Americans being truly free is the fact in which those born into good credit situations usually end up with a good credit type of lifestyle unless they do something out of the ordinary to mess it up. The individuals born into a bad credit situation in which are usually African Americans and Immigrants, have to work ten times harder than the next man or woman to build up a decent credit score.

African Americans have to work triple overtime to pay high priced car loans, maximum insurance and student loan fees. Of course African Americans should not blame it all on the man. Blacks have been fruitful in their spending by becoming the number one consumers in the U.S.

This number one spot comes at a number one price for the kids and future kids of African Americans as they try to get out of the debt their mothers and fathers have created for them to get out of. You the reader should ask how African Americans can really be free since they are passed down with generational debt. Who else is going to pay for grandma’s old hospital bills, mortgage and credit card debt when she dies?
