Are All Races Treated Equally?
Some races are given advantages in society because they have been historically harmed. This practice is known as Affirmative Action. Is it a good approach to improving society?
Racism in the United States is like a massive fire and Affirmative Action is its fuel. Although affirmative action is thought to soothe racial injustices, it only creates opportunities for ethnic discrimination. Throughout the last 200 years, African Americans have been subjected to the harsh cruelties of second-class citizenship. Now, it is the open door to reverse racism. Schools, colleges and the workplace are giving advantages to the historically harmed. Thus, the life led by one wouldn’t be based on merit. If prejudice was cruel towards the African American community, the Caucasian community should not have to endure the same.
With policies of Affirmative Action enforced, the world would be run on moral judgment as opposed to logical thinking and merit. It is important that success derives from hard work. Awarding free credit is more of an insult to someone rather than a gift. It would be the equivalent of “charity”, therefore demeaning to them. People are not motivated by equality, they are puppets of wealth and success, but creating short-term solutions will not solve anything.

Affirmative action leverages the opportunities of one race over another. Will that soothe racial tensions or only intensify them? The white community would have an inclination to react to reverse racism while on the flipside; the African American community would feel aggressive and dominant. On both sides of the problem, pressure begins to build and a large and disastrous culmination will be inevitable.
A society that runs on Affirmative Action is labeling it as a colorblind community. It encourages the ignorance of inequality, arguing that creating a false reality is the solution to racial disputes. Affirmative Action is like fighting ignorance with ignorance. The differences and racial inequalities are something the world must accept. The public must be educated, not deceived.
Affirmative Action is a dangerous and risky practice to follow. It raises new problems such as reverse racism, removal of incentive for achievements, and creates a false reality. Why should a nation have policies that destroy an even playing field? Although Affirmative Action was created for good intensions, it is a one-way street to the destruction of society.
