Are We Free
This article was written by me in response to a debate I saw asking were African Americans free. A lot of people may not like me after this one, but hey I told the truth and sometimes it hurts. It’s time for us all to stop being divided and become one whole. We can afford to be enslaved mentally or physically right now. This is just a little something to let people know they need to free their minds and stop letting others make them who they are.
Are African Americans really free? The answer is.. No. We will never really be free until we can free our selves. We are still slaves mentally because we have enslaved ourselves to statistics. I have read so many articles on should African Americans be paid for our descendants and the use of the N word and African Americans this and that. We seem as if we can’t move on and look at a brighter future. African Americans are no longer the only ones struggling. Look at today’s economy and you will see that every race need some form of help. We are so stuck in the past, and still blaming the Caucasian man that we can’t take two steps forward, because if we fall back it is never our fault we always blame it on some one else. African Americans refuse to take responsibility for their actions today.
Yes slavery was wrong and yes we were abused and treated like trash. I will also acknowledge the fact that their are still some Caucasians today who can not seem to grasp the fact that African Americans are free and equal. As long as we allow them to make us feel inferior then we will never come up. How can we move forward when we are still stuck back in decades before most of our time. What makes me angry is that some people who still talk about slavery and wanting money behind our descendent’s suffering are some of the ones who have not even tried to do anything with their lives. After the first door slammed in their face, they didn’t even take the chance and look for the next. America is a land that was once sought out for freedom, and opportunity, and yes it is a little jacked up right now but there is always a way to still prosper.
My biggest issue is that if you know what people are already expecting from you and you know they think the worst of you, why not Do the opposite and do your best and succeed. African Americans, not all but some have made the the race look bad because thats the image they help people give us. How can we get mad at another minority or race calling us the N word when most of us do it every day. You can’t get mad at a Caucasian for calling some one a nappy headed you know what because allot of African American men call African American women that so much they think it’s cute. I feel that if we want to be respected you have to respect your self. Stop blaming the white man and step up out of the past. Be strong men and women and show them that the past is not the present and create a brighter future. once we do that then we can finally be free. We may never be equal to some and we may still be treated unfairly but at the end of the day we will know who we are and will be rewarded for our good works. One we free ourselves mentally, we can no longer be a victim to slavery.
