Calling for New Filipino Heroes

It is important that we Filipinos work to bring order, peace and justice in our country. The Philippines is a beautiful country blessed with an abundance of natural resources. God made our seas full of corals and fish, our mountains with thick and green forest and a fertile land. Our country is also rich with Filipino leaders and heroes. Most of them are ordinary people who have sterling qualities and sacrificed their lives in serving our motherland. Our heroes and leaders who were courageous, tough, patriotic, humble yet productive. Are you familiar with these people who fought against the foreign oppressor? These are our heroes who defended our country against the alien foe to gain our independence.
There is a need for a stronger sense of patriotism among us, a greater love for our countrymen, and a desire to make our country a happy place to live in. We should unite and start anew, be open to conversion and a change of heart. Love our country and continue to serve it with pride.
We should remember that our country and nationality are God’s gift to us. Since He is the one who give these things to us, we must love and value them along with other Filipinos who are living here with us. The love we have for our country and our fellowmen reflects our ultimate love for God. If we, Filipinos, will work hand in hand for the Philippines, we will not only feel happiness and fulfillment, but most of all, will make Him happy.
As a sign of our genuine gratitude to God for giving us our country and nationality, we should work together to make our country a better place to live in. we could do something even in our small ways to contribute to its continuous progress. One way is by simply doing our shared responsibilities like following and respecting the laws. Participating in a “clean and green projects” of our government and community and even doing the simplest thing like helping an elderly crossing the street. Another is to show other people that we are really proud of being Filipinos and we are proud of the Philippines.
As a citizen of this country, it is our duty to serve and love our native land. We have to remember that no matter how small our contributions, it becomes great and useful if we do it wholeheartedly. Love of country is not shown just by words but be deeds.
