Origin of “redneck”.
What exactly is a “redneck” and what is the origin of the term?
well many think that it came from southerners working in the feilds all day and they whold get sunburn on there necks hence “redneck”. but there you whold be wrongbut it meens the use of red bandanas tied around the neck to signify union affiliation during the violent clashes between United Mine Workers and owners between 1910 and 1920. allthow the union lost thay won in later years in 1927 by the presedent. and today “redneck” is used as slang for “hillbillys” “white trash” and also “tralerpark trash”. but in 1910 – sometimes today it is used for a man that whants whats best for his family and is willing to die for it. though the years meny southern people lost the meening of the word “redneck” and use it as a statis symble as in the pictures below.
