Race Wars

New American president, old habits. Racial prejudice is still strong in many places today.

Obama is Now

An important issue that gets lost in the shuffle is that Obama is the President now, regardless of race.  Our God expects us to respect our President, our leadership.  We don’t have to like our leadership or even agree with it, but we should still respect that it is what it is.  We must pray for our President to do what is best for our country, and it is better to find ways to support rather than wear the burden of the chip on the shoulder.  If I call myself a Christian, I should act in like manner.

Be Proud of Who You Are

Whites should be proud to be whites.  Blacks should be proud to be blacks.  If I decide to take on the attitude that I hate blacks, does that make me right to be proud of my race?  No.  It works the same on the reverse side, too.  It should not be a matter of one race being better than the other.  What should matter is making each race the best it can be.

Judge Ye Not

Drama is the word of the decade.  Drama works.  It draws attention, crowds, interest, stories, and money.  Judging one another is what makes news.  If there is no smoke, no fire can be built.  If there is no news, many people lose jobs.  If there is no interest, there is no place for news.  Drama feeds and builds.  It can also tear down and cause pain.  Judging one another and pointing fingers will not make this world a better place.  Taking responsibility for our own personal decisions will.  Judge ye not gets lost in the shadows because drama is strong and brave.  It demands.  Not judging is harder.  It takes more work, more effort.  It keeps the waters calm so the storm will be kept at bay.

Classic Case

Our race wars are a classic case of good versus evil…right versus wrong…the strong versus the weak.  The problem is that there is a reluctance to admit that white and black are equally mixed with good and evil, right and wrong, and strength and weakness.  There is no better-than or worse-than as a whole.  This only applies to individuals, not entire races.

Race Focus

Yes, I totally focus on the whites and blacks here.  It is intentional because I am making a point.  I realize there are race wars with other races besides whites and blacks.  I speak as a white.  I speak what I know myself from my own experiences, from what I have witnessed during my lifetime.  I focus on whites and blacks because I have had little interaction with other races.  It is not because of any personal choice on my part.  It is just the way life happened for me.

Peace on Earth

Maybe I will live to see the day when all races will respect each other, but I’m not holding my breath.  Peace on earth is not impossible, just improbable.  People are what they are.  What they are is imperfect.  There is a natural instinct to prove one’s self.  There is a natural instinct to win, to be the strongest or even the weakest, and to be the top dog in the kennel.  Competing against each other is natural, whether it be white or black, male or female, or young and old.  Peace on earth…..hmmm, no drama.  Just can’t imagine that.
