Remember Fragilence
I wrote this because I want to encourage people to visit the Holocause Museum in Washington.
The Holocaust was one of the most horrible events in world history. It was an annihilation of Jewish people in Europe. Although the extermination of that group was the Nazi’s goal, they attacked many other groups and minorities as well. They included Gypsies, the mentally/physically challenged, and homosexuals. By the end of the Holocaust, millions upon millions had died.
So why is it important to study and remember a thing like this? Prevention. To stop an event like the Holocaust from ever happening again, we must first understand what caused it. Discrimination, racism, prejudice, and bigotry were among the main reasons. Many others such as money and an appetite for destruction lead to genocide, but mostly it was one man’s desire to conquer the world. It was very fortunate for us though that he never had a chance in the world.
By visiting the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (in Washington, D.C.), you learn how we as a planet can prevent genocide of this size from ever reoccurring. Life is too valuable for you to forget the importance of freedom and rights.
