The Dynamism of Africa
Africa, a vast land of the great and humble; A meeting point of cultures, rising from the north to the south,East to west; Different people, different cultures.
All Africans, joined together in destiny.
I am a product of Africa. My strength, endurance, faith and trust emanate from my heritage. My intelligence and wisdom was passed on to me by my people who taught me to believe that out of a seed a tree grows. I respect my elders and value their wisdom because Africa taught me to.
I speak about five languages (most Africans speak at least two languages) because I am interested in others and because I respect and honor others alike. I know I am never alone because Africa taught me that I am not my own but I belong to a people that value their own. When faced with an emergency I can call at my extended relation’s house without first informing them that I am coming.
Others abuse Africa’s hospitality because they think she is a fool. In reality that is how she is blessed. Africa and her children have gone through many storms in life, but they have not destroyed her or her children because Africa taught them that falling happens to all of us but one must get up and keep on going until they achieve their purpose in life.
I love being African because of my people’s generosity in the midst of want. The outside world thinks they are poor because they see them with tattered clothes, running nose, unkempt hair and barefoot. Amidst poverty, Africans possess hearts of compassion; one can get up run around the village compound, if they find people eating in one compound, they can join them for the meal without question.
Africa’s warm and vivid hospitality is legendary. Imagine a home, which has chickens, goats, and cows but will not slaughter one to eat. However, as soon as a guest arrives, one is slaughtered so as to eat with the guest. In the same vain if a guest has no blanket one is given to him to use until the guest leaves while the owner of the house sleeps without a blanket. To the outside world, one might think the owner is suffering but it’s the hospitality of the home and all are happy with warm smiling faces.
I love Africa because the sun shines everyday. The people smile everyday. In the midst of all the pain and suffering, Africans know the value of the little things in life
