What a Barack Obama Presidency Means to African Americans
About the opportunities of African Americans under a Barack Obama Administration.
Third, now that the illusion of the glass ceiling has been eliminated, African Americans and other minorities must take the responsibility and initiative for the own lives. There are no excuses. If one black man could stake a claim for the presidency of the United States and run the most sophisticated campaign of all time, then African Americans, particularly black men must awaken to the fact that there is no one to blame for failure. The illusion of oppression has now been deeply wounded in the twenty-first century. Black men must not sustain the negative images of the themselves, harming and disrespecting one another. Not anymore! The time has come to go forward and create a pattern of positive images for the next generation. In the neighborhoods and communities all across America, black on black crime and violence must be uprooted and destroyed from the society forever. African American men must take responsibility for their women and children in a way that pleases God and honors society. Selfishness and jealousy toward one another must cease if black people are to build strong communities and neighborhoods for the future generations. Contempt of one another must cease if black children are to succeed in the public education systems that has long expected and encouraged low standards of achievement. What does an Obama presidency means if African Americans don’t do their part in maximizing their success as a strong community of people who are able to contribute to the positive advancement of society. If and when this happens, the parents of the next generation can proudly tell their children that there are no limitations as to what one can accomplish.
