What is Creole?
by Giving incite as to what the Creole people are, and what they are about.
Creole people are a unique people with a heritage richer than any other. We are a wonderful mixture of European, New World Native American, and African. The first Creole people date back to the early 1400’s. We occupy eastern states, western states, and southern cities throughout the south. One city known for its creole population is New Orleans. Our history goes deeply into the city of New Orleans, and we are the reason its french heritage and rich culture stays around. Creoles come in many shades of black. Some of us are so light skinned we look white like Rachael Ray who is a creole women. We can be caramel like Beyonce, and Bryant Gumbel, or as dark as W.E.B DuBois. All of these people are creole or of creole descent.
The Creole people don’t just occupy parts of the United States, we occupy almost the entire Caribbean, and parts of the world as well. For example Martinique, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominica, St. Lucia, Trinidad, st. Martin, Antigua, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, and so many more are islands with 40 to 50% of its population maybe more who are creole. We are the reason the Caribbean is so culturally beautiful.
Around the world we are in West Africa for example Gabon, Cote d’ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, and in countries like France, French Guyana, Brazil, Australia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Libya an so much more.
We truly are beautiful people, and very successful. We have many successful Creoles in show business like, Beyonce, Bryant Gumbel, Suzanne Malveaux, Soledad O’Brien, Wynton Marsalis, Tracie Spencer, and Rachael Ray. Others like Alicia Keys and Vanessa Williams, are also successful creoles.
We also have a Mysterious side to us. Like the great Voodoo queen herself Marie Laveaux. It is said she practiced black magic, and used many spells and Hexes on people. Others say she was a healer, and practiced with herbs and roots to heal the sick. It is even said we used Black magic to run the white man out of Haiti, and Jamaica, and that was the reason Haiti was the first to become liberated. Whether that story is true I don’t know.
