2012

My theory of why the world will end in 2012.

Many people think we are magically going to explode, or the sun is going to burn out, or we’re going to get hit by an asteroid; these accusations are false. Spontanious combustion was disproved somewhere in the 1400’s, so we won’t magically explode. Our sun, as far as stars go, is comparibally in it’s teenager stage, but to be fair, stars last for millions and millions of years, so it’s not going to burn out. I’m not sure where the theory of getting hit by an asteroid came from, but I can assure you that it is false. The real story lies in one of the most seemingly harmless elements known to man; dust.

So in 2012, scientists say we will enter a void called the dark rift, composed of essentially space debris, or dust. This will cause exponential drops in temperature, blocking out the sun, and forcing us into a new iceage. As if that wasn’t enough, the space “dust”, combine with our lakes and oceans, would virtually turn to a cement-like substance, rendering it useless, and forcing us into draught. Famine would also insue, as a result of draught, because farms wouldn’t be able to grow crops, animals wouldn’t be able to drink, and would die off, and humanity would end with no food or water. As trees died, we would soon run the world short of oxygen, and possibly suffocate. Along with trees dying would come snowstorms like never experienced in modern-day earth, because there would be nothing left to break wind trails. Buildings would erode and fall apart from wind and dust smashing into them constantly, never relenting because the trees aren’t present to stop wind storms. This would continue relentlessly, and growingly powerful, for 50 long years, until we left the void.

Most people see dust as a harmless annoyance that gathers on their counters and tabletops; I see it as the end of humanity.

If scientists are correct, and we do enter this void, there is no possible way our civilization could survive.
