Athena: My Favorite Greek God

Greek mythology.

There are many names to choose in the realm of the gods as one’s favorite. I myself found it difficult. My personal favorite is Athena. Not only is her story the most interesting, but she is the most interesting god in my opinion. The only downside is that she doesn’t show up very much. Her story is the only one in which we hear of her. Right from her birth she did much good for man. She taught man how to spin and weave and how to use tools. She developed the science of numbers (mathematics) and taught it to man. She showed man how to make and use the axe, the ox yoke, the plow, the wheel, and the sail. She provided man with so much, let alone her domain as strategical warfare. She was such a big figure, that the Greeks even decided to name a towns after her, AthensAthens just happens to be the capitol of Greece! Form her birth to where she is now he has improved life for early man so much. The story of her birth is the most eccentric and interesting. One day Zeus saw a Titaness, and he chased after her.  It was prophesized that any son born to him from this Titaness would over throw him, so he didn’t stick around.  The next day his head hurt, so he asked Hephaestus to split open his skull with an axe. When he did so, a full-grown woman jumped out in a full suit of armor and a spear. At that moment she was identified as one of the gods, and claimed her domain as “Athena, the goddess of defensive warfare.” And from then on she was also known as  “Will Cornell’s favorite god.”
