First of all everybody should know that the Mayan calendar stops on December 21st 2012, it doesn’t actually say the end of time starts here. There could be multiple reasons for this, like maybe the Mayans got lazy and stopped just because, or they possibly said “hey we aren’t gonna live this long lets let future generations continue this star chart.” And the most mistaken part of this whole doomsday bit is that many people are arguing that Earth is going to explode and the sun will burn out. The predicted effects of the date are floods of huge proportions everywhere and some major earthquakes, and the reasoning for these natural disasters is that on December 21st the planets will somewhat align and all of this combined gravity in one line is going to cause unbelievable side effects to our world. Perhaps maps will  need to be redrawn, and maybe a second ice age will occur due to the magnetic poles shifting. Maybe the continents will move and Africa will return to its former place. Nobody knows for sure, and in the past doomsday has been predicted within every five years ahead, and the most famous prediction is Y2K or year 2,000. And if you’ve done your geography and history homework you might know that in the age of dinosaurs the continents were all in one spot and touching, not to mention the poles have shifted before and there was more than one ice age although less dramatic than the steriotype seen in the movie series.
