End of the World

Although I do not believe that something so outrageous can be predicted, I have found the subject extremely intriguing. Even though I do not believe in it, others do and I will not prejudice against someone for beliefs, in fact I enjoy listening to their side of the story. It’s so fascinating.

So here is some of the theories I have found. I think the main theory to be discussed would be the Maya Calendar. According to this ancient calendar, the end of the world is going to occur on the 21st December 2012. Maybe it is trying to predict a nuclear war – quite likely from North Korea. Maybe a global disaster like that off the film ‘The Day After Tomorrow’. Maybe a super virus will have mutated from something as simple as the common cold and wipe out the whole population? There’s a whole range of theories if you think about it. Another question you might ask yourself – if this was such a major thing, (which it would be if enough people believed) then why isn’t it posted all over the media? I think it would be much more important than Britney Spears.

Here, in my opinion are some theories that can just stay wives tales:

Asteroid – No. Just no. There isn’t an asteroid close enough that would hit us even close to 2029.

Russia – The only country beside the US that can actually cause a world wide catastrophe. But as it stands, North Korea are the ones we need to look at.

Pole Shift – Almost definitely not going to happen by 2012. This sort of thing will take hundreds of years yet. Maybe the world’s oceans and seas will rise by about 3mm in the next few decades. The majority of the icecaps are belowthe surface. Hence the saying ‘Just the tip of the iceburg’.

Religious Belief – I am not religious, but I am not going to say whether religious theories are wrong or right.

Previous Theory – Remember how the new millennium was meant to be ‘Judgement Day’ ? Yet you are currently sat here reading this. Think about it.

I could probably do even more research into this and get an incredulous amount of knowledge, but I decided it best to leave it here as I found it getting more and more outrageous as I read further into it.
