Friday 13th: Make of It What You Will

Energy is neither good nor bad, it is how we decide to use that energy that defines who we are and the kind of experiences we have. Friday 13th is a powerful day, but not one to be feared. We must always remember that whatever we think about we will attract into our lives. By keeping our thoughts positive and proactive this powerful stream of energy can be used to bring good things into our lives.

Sadly so many people buy into the hype and fuel the fire of the negative image associated with Friday 13th. Hospitals see an increase of up to 52% in admissions as more accidents take place. Some people develop a phobia of this and are known as Paraskevidekatriaphobics, even refusing to leave their homes or drive their cars for fear of something horrible happening to them. For those sensitive to energy, the very atmosphere surrounding the day can feel charged with expectation as if the world is holding its breath to see what will happen.

How did this fear begin? Well according to Tales of the Knights Templar by Katharine Kurtz;

“On October 13, 1307, a day so infamous that Friday the 13th would become a synonym for ill fortune, officers of King Philip IV of France carried out mass arrests in a well-coordinated dawn raid that left several thousand Templars – knights, sergeants, priests, and serving brethren – in chains, charged with heresy, blasphemy, various obscenities, and homosexual practices. None of these charges was ever proven, even in France – and the Order was found innocent elsewhere – but in the seven years following the arrests, hundreds of Templars suffered excruciating tortures intended to force “confessions,” and more than a hundred died under torture or were executed by burning at the stake.

Now horrific as this was, it is certainly no worse than many other atrocities committed throughout history.

Even the very number 13 is enough to strike terror into the hearts of many; streets such as the one I grew up on never had a house numbered 13, as too many people would refuse to move into one of that number.

I too used to be a firm follower of the superstitious mindset as were my parents. This all changed one summer’s day in my late teens. It took place during the holidays and it wasn’t until evening that we even realised that it was Friday 13th at all. When I looked back on the day I saw that certainly nothing bad had happened, in fact I had had some extraordinary good luck on several occasions throughout that day. For me this broke the spell and now I look forward to these special days in the safe knowledge that something wonderful is coming my way.

So don’t face today with fear but look at it as a day as any other filled with possibilities, it is a powerful day none the less so choose to use the energy wisely!

    I didn’t even notice it was Friday 13th today. I have had no problems so far LOL. My mother is the superstitious one.
    An interesting article. Good work.
