Friday the 13th

The history behind this superstitious day.

Friday the 13th has probably haunted you since you were a little kid. You didn’t want to go to school, work. You didn’t even want to go outside! A lot of people are scared of this superstition, but why exactly is it a superstition? What happened on this day to frighten people so much?

There are many theories on how Friday the 13th occured, and why 13 is an evil number. One theory says that there were 13 guests at the Last Supper, and the 13th guest betrayed Jesus, resulting in his crucifixion. Others say, from the Da Vinci Code, that the massacre of the Knights Templar was the true beginning of this day on Friday, October 13, 1307. We may never know when this superstition came to be, but we do know how it still affects us today.

There have been many reports that say roads have been a lot safer on this day because people never want to leave their homes. Some people are so stricken with fear that they don’t even get out of bed in the morning, and that people avoid their daily routines.
