Good Luck, Lucky One
Superstition is always alive and well, here to assist you whenever you need it.
I can’t tell you how many days I have started with a reading of my horoscope. I believe astrology has merit when it’s done in a scientific way based on your exact time of birth, but these daily “blurbs” are for entertainment purposes only. There have been many days when I have altered my course of living because something I see written for “Taurus” warns me to rethink my choices.
I remember once gearing up for talking to my boss about a raise. On the day that I was ready (exploding) to do it, I decided to read my horoscope. (even though I hadn’t for a few weeks)
“Things are not what they seem. Acting out could have consequences.”
Yikes!!!….THAT was all it took for me to postpone my little talk. Not just postpone, but rethink and convince myself that the whole thing really was a bad idea. The truth is that I didn’t want to have that talk. I was looking for a reason NOT to. When there weren’t any rational reasons I could come up with on my own, I resorted to astrology to help me out. And, if that first horoscope I read wasn’t enough to scare me into silence, there were plenty more to read through to shake some sense into me.
I have also shown my courageous side (silently, to myself) by taking risky chances on Friday the 13th, EVEN when the moon was full, knowing that if I failed, well, I was very brave to attempt ANYTHING with the whole darn universe telling me it was a bad idea in such a clear way.
The world that we live in is loaded with ways for us to justify what we do and when we do it. I think that usually when I am most unsure of myself, I reach for “signs” that the universe is on my side. And, if I reach far enough, and search for hidden meaning, and read between the lines, I am supported OR discouraged……depending on what I want to be. Searching for validation in the most meaningless of ways has become one of my favorite time wasters.
I stopped picking up coins that are facing tails up. I can’t remember why I do that, but I’m pretty sure that the value of the coin isn’t worth the consequences that the “tail” would bring me. What’s interesting is that I’m not sure that the tails side is the unlucky one, but I haven’t been terribly unlucky, so I’m sticking with heads.

This is one of the most hilarious things I have read here. I am guilty of almost everything you are. It’s nice to have company!!
You are entertaining and so darn clever. I will look for your writing here.
The world needs more writing like this.

You will build a name for yourself with writing like this. It’s clever, witty, funny and off the beaten path. It touches the quirkiness of “humaness”, an gives the reader something to smile about. And, you’re charming with your ability to poke fun at yourself, and to deliver a message with that humor.
Great read!
