Greek Mythology: Ares
This is one I thought was going to be boring. WRONG! You enjoy and comment! Or else I’ll … ok scary does NOT work for me.
Ares: God of war, and an extreme hot head.
Ares was the son of Zeus and Hera. No one really liked him. He was usually pictured in as a young guy without clothes (Uhhh…) or a middle aged man WITH clothes on (Thank goodness). Even he people feared him and wouldn’t worship him.
Ares was the god of war. Most myths have him-
A. Getting yelled at by the goddess of war Athena for being such an idiot,
B. Or him hooking up with Aphrodite, the goddess of love who was married to Hephatasus.
I’ll cover the first area.
Ares was more a god of bloodfrenzy than war itself. Athena was a strategist and only went into war for the justice. In other words, a complete opposite. I don’t know what ticked off Athena because I couldn’t find the original legend, but she was mad. It was during the Trojan War. Ares did or said something, and Athena threw a boulder at him. Other legends have her shooting him, but I prefer the boulder.
Second part of the stories is with Aphrodite. I don’t know what the goddess saw in him, but I’m going to assume all she saw was how hot he was. Ares, well, nothing could compete with the love of war but she was hot. It was a love based on looks.
Enter Hephatasus. Hephatasus was the god of the forge and not very good looking. He didn’t exactly like the fact that his wife was sleeping with Ares. So next time Ares and Aphrodite were together, Hephatasus let it slip about the affair. ALL the other male gods interrupted the two lovers and embaressed the two. That was a normal event. Ares and Aphrodite being made to look like idiots by Hephatasus. Another time he put a fine mesh net on a bed. (It was invisible). He grabbed them out using the bed later. This time he demanded they be punished, but they weren’t. (All the male gods were actually jealous.)
Ares had a ‘love’ child (I’m emphasizing love for a reason) with Aphrodite who’s name was Eros, the god of sex. Eros’ name in another mythology is Cupid.
Thats all! Thanks for reading!
