Hold Your Hands Up!
Do our hands and fingers really give away secrets about us? Can another person look at your fingers and hands and get an insight to your health, personality, sexual performance or job?
Do our hands and fingers really give away secrets about us? Can another person look at your fingers and hands and get an incite to your health, personality, sexual performance or job?
I think it is possible in some instances. A person who works outside in a physical job will have much rougher, strong hands than a person that works behind a desk.
But does the length of certain fingers that are part of our genetic make up, tell if we are going to be good at sport?
Or the length of certain fingers can tell us if we are in danger of having a heart attack at a young age?
Or determine our sexuality?
In certain studies a strong correlation between long ring fingers and sporting ability has been found. The hormone testosterone seems to be the key to this. If the person was subjected to more testosterone in the womb and their ring finger is longer than their index finger then good sporting ability seems probable.
Professional footballers have longer ring finger than a non-football player. We will all be looking at ‘Golden balls’ Beckham next time we see him to see if this is the case!

Also women with longer ring fingers, tend to have more of a tendency to be gay or bisexual. They are likely to be more aggressive and less fertile than a woman whose ring and index fingers are near enough the same length
Can the length of the fingers tell if you are a potential candidate for a heart attack?
Well if the longer fingered man has been subject to more testosterone at the early trimester in the womb and testosterone helps protect you from heart attacks then it could well be that the longer ring fingered man has less of a chance to have a heart attack as opposed to the shorter ring fingered man, who is more likely to have a heart attack in early adulthood.
I suppose it goes without saying that if the longer fingered man seems to find exercise and sport easier than the short-fingered man that could be why his heart is less likely to be a problem area.
Studies done by a Greek scientist from Naval show that the length of the index finger can accurately predict the length of the penis and it is claimed that these finding can help doctors counsel and treat men who have perceived inadequacies in this area. The study was done on 52 healthy young men between the ages of 19 and 38 and the measurements were done on a flaccid but stretched penis.
Most women have ring and index fingers that are the same length but the minority of women that have longer ring fingers are more likely to be good at sports, especially martial arts, swimming and gymnastics.

Well I guess if you don’t want anyone to ‘read’ you, you should wear gloves!

How strange. I have a longer ring finger than index finger and I was good at both gymnastics and swimming when younger and went on to teach them. A really interesting article.

Miss L – An interesting study…didn’t know these things about length of fingers, however the puffiness of fingers and the colour of fingernails are telling signs about cardio health.
Couple of minor spell corrections: “incite” should be “insight” “apposed” s/b “opposed”

Another very fasinating topic! I have to say my ring finger is actually shorter then my index,ah well so much for being an athlete, although I do like staying in shape,I really have never like sports that much.It is amazing how all things in our bodies seem to be linked to another. They say that the length of your arm between wrist and elbow is the same size as your foot. This is true.Excellent work and a very enjoyable read Lilly!

A well written article. I suppose we all want lasting companionships which surpass the abilities of our own fingers. Regardless of length of each finger, our minds could make a great difference and you have thought this post so well more than your fingers could type the words. Well done, my friend.xx

Hands give out a lot of secrets
Once I held a guys hand
And asked him whether he
Was going in for a divorce
He asked me
Who told you?
He was then in USA
Where as I was no where nearby
He had just divorced.
Another person’s hands were so cold
On a warm evening
She was scared
Of someone finding out
So hands do tell believe it or not
Wet hands give you
Information of nervousness
Low BP too
And a shaggy handshake indicates
Disinterest in you,
That’s it
Want to shake my hand
Or this much will do
