Mars and Venus, Iron and Copper
“Men came from Mars, Women came from Venus”.
As you may have heard, the quote says it all. “Men came from Mars, Women came from Venus”. I find this really true and interesting, according to western astrology and what I’ve noticed.
The planet Mars is represented by the roman god of war (Ares in Greek mythology). The symbol for Mars is used to symbolize masculinity and the element iron. The iron oxide particles on Mars gives it it’s reddish pigment. The hemoglobin of our blood also contains iron. Mars also rules Aries in astrology. Aries is fiery, masculine, and hot-headed. Aries also associates with red. Aries also starts from March 21-April20. March is associated with Mars.
The planet Venus is represented by the roman goddess of beauty and love (Aphrodite in Greek mythology). The symbol for Venus symbolizes feminity and the element copper. If you notice or have seen pictures of Venus, the surface is kind of orange, much like the elemental copper. Also in Boticelli’s painting “Birth of Venus”, her hair was kind of copperish, much like the element she’s associated with. Venus also rules Taurus and Libra in astrology. Taurus is a feminine earth sign and starts from April21-May20. April is associated with Aphrodite.
When rusted, iron turns red and copper turns green. Red and green are opposite colors on the color wheel. Also, Iron and Copper are essential minerals to our body. Iron and Copper work together to function properly in our body. Venus is hot, Mars is cold. Iron is magnetic, Copper is conductive. Now you get the picture. See a connection? Go figure!
