Perseus Rules

A comparison between Perseus and Theseus.

Perseus was better than Theseus because Theseus was accepted to his family while, her father, king Acrisius, locked Perseus’ mother, Danaë, away. Perseus was born from his mother and Zeus while Theseus was born to king Aegeus and his mother. Perseus was thrown into the sea in a chest when he was very young. Then he and his mother were taken care of by Dyctis and then sent off to kill Medusa by Dyctis’ evil brother, Polydictys, who was in love with Perseus’ mother. Theseus, however, was trained as a warrior and went to his father who told him not to but he still went to Crete to be fed to the Minotaur in an attempt to kill it. Perseus was also the great grandfather of Hercules while Theseus was only his cousin.

When king Acrisius had a daughter, he went to Delphi to find out if he would have a son. The oracle said his only daughter would bear a son that would kill him so he locked his daughter in a house made of bronze underground with openings in the roof so water and sunlight can get through. Zeus came and bore her a son. The son was Perseus. When Acrisius found out, he put both Perseus and his mother in a chest made of brass and wood and put it in the sea. The chest was found by Dictys. He and his wife took care of the two. For Theseus, he was born, he moved a rock, found a sword and sandals, started toward Athens killed random people with unusual techniques, met his dad who was trying to poison him. Perseus had to suffer while Theseus was trying to mimic his cousin.

Perseus was being taken care of by Dictys, when, Dyctis’ evil brother and owner of island they were on, Polydictys, fell in love with Danaë. To get rid of Perseus, Polydyctis sends him off to kill the gorgon Medusa. Theseus, on the other hand, was at his fathers place. His father was trying to poison him but did not when he saw the sword and shoes. A few days later, Theseus volunteered to be one of the people fed to the Minotaur. Later, they both caused their fathers deaths.

One ring to rule them all.
