ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN-LEGEND COMES TO LIFE, Ivan T. Sanderson, 2006, Adventures Unlimited, 525pp, index. photos
The reprinted 1960 classic by zoologist Ivan T. Sanderson which not only focuses on the then-popular stories of yeti in the Himalayas, but assembles similar reports from all of the other continents, including the North American Sasquatch and Bigfoot, at a time when the focus remained on the original Abominable Snowman. Regrettably, although a it remains tantalizing subject continually fed by years of eyewitness sightings, incontrovertible proof has yet to be found.
A thorough discussion of the subject, including the varieties of ABSM, as Sanderson abbreviates the designation, found in the Himalayas, according to the inhabitants. Sanderson examination includes photos, footprints, human ancestors and offshoots, hair samples, and other related topics. Even in 1960 there were so many reports of sightings that he winds up dismissing most of them because of their basic similarity.
Lots of great stuff for fans of the subject.
