Rose Color Meanings
It is a wonderful treat for your lady (or man) to receive roses for Valentines, birthday, or for no reason at all. But if you are a person who likes to be a little different, be careful before you let your individuality show through the color of roses you give someone, because each color has its own meaning.
Red
Red is the mose common color for a bouquet of roses, and red roses are a symbol of love and/or romance. The color red itself is a metaphor for deep emotion. In a new relationship, red roses can indicate romantic intentions. Even a single red rose can mean “I love you deeply”.
Pink
Pink roses are a symbol of admiration. The meaning of pink roses can be anything from beauty and grace, to thank you, to congratulations. They are often seen in bridal bouquets or birthday arrangements. Within the color pink are different shades of pink, with dark pink meaning gratitude, and light pink meaning gentleness.
Yellow
Be especially cautious (pun not intended, but appropriate) before you give your romantic interest a yellow rose. While yellow is the color for optimism and felicity, yellow roses symbolize a much milder feeling. Yellow roses express only friendship no matter how strong the bond. Yet yellow roses convey the feelings of warmth, joy, and happiness.
White
The color white connotates purity and innocence, and this goes for white roses as well. White roses are traditionally associated with marriages and new beginnings. White roses transcend the meaning of innocence and purity, however. They convey the sentiment of everlasting love, unbreakable bonds. Whereas white symbolizes birth and black symbolizes death, a white rose expresses a love and loyalty that is undying.
Lavender/Purple
This color of rose symbolizes enchantment. It can also be a symbol of admiration, as one that is admired can be viewed as an enchantment. Opulence and regality are other meanings given to the purple rose. Unlike the white rose, though, the purple rose can signify fleeting sentiments.
Rainbow Roses
Rainbow roses are made of a variety of colors in the petals. This is done by splitting the stems of the roses and soaking each split in differently colored water. Rainbow roses can symbolize a very whimsical, haphazard, fun relationship.
