Secrets of the Ages: Do Ancient Monuments Shed Light on a Modern Mystery?
While sifting through thousand of reports from the United States and Britain on unidentified flying objects (UFO’s), British researcher Paul Devereux started to observe certain patterns.

Sightings of UFO’s seemed to occur most often in certain areas where an unusually high number of geologic faults-breaks between layer of different kinds of rock-made them subject to earth tremors and variations in the earth’s magnetic field. In Britain, noted Devereux, the areas are also the sites of ancient earthworks and stone monuments.
Aliens at Stonehenge?

Devereux knew that some writers have suggested that the stone monuments at Stonehenge in England, at Carnac in France, and at other places around the world were not the work of humans but of extraterrestrials whom the people believed to be gods. Proponents of the idea also pointed out that sightings of UFO’s have been especially frequent near these ancient sites.
But Devereux’s work led him to offer a different explanation for the sightings-and some new theories as to why monuments were built.

At the time that Devereux had completed his study of UFO’s in 1975, however, he was no nearer to an explanation-despite the intriguing geologic correlations that he had discovered. An extraterrestrial agent could still have been responsible for the ancient structures.
Pinpoints of Light

Meanwhile, other scientists had been conducting some seemingly unrelated unrelated research. Data compiled by psychologists Michael Per singer and Gyslaine Lafreniere of Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, suggested that a combination of seismic and electrical forces might be responsible for UFO events.

And at the U.S Bureau of Mines in Denver, Dr. Brian Brady had been investigating the effects of geologic and seismic disturbances. During experiments involving the breaking and fracturing of rocks, Brady noticed that intense emissions of light would erupt as the erupt as the rocks broke apart. Inside the laboratory the lights were no more than tiny, short-lived pinpoints-but out if doors they might be seen as objects moving along a fracture.
Brady felt that movement in a fault zone in the earth might generate emissions of light along the active portions of the fault. When Per singer and Lafreniere contacted Brady, they concluded that he had created what might be UFO’s in miniature.
Full Circle

Bringing together all of these findings, Devereux felt that he might now have found a scientific explanation to support his statistics: Could UFO’s be natural phenomena?

If so, the electromagnetic nature of UFO events would explain many effects that frequently accompany sightings: burn marks on the ground, buzzing noises, and the failure of automobile electrical systems. But what was the relationship between the “earthlights” from geologic fault lines and the ancient megalithic sites?

It is Devereux’s supposition that the people of the New Stone Age saw the earthlights and regarded them as holy; they then built temples and observatories at points where the lights were seen most frequently. Devereux goes on to propose an even more startling theory: perhaps the lights actually assumed the shapes that witnesses believed they were seeing.

According to Devereux, the prehistoric priests might have been able to manipulate the forms the lights took, giving them the shapes of pagan deities. Priests might have accomplished this through the power of suggestion or some process we as yet cannot comprehend.
If so, claims Devereux, it would help to explain myths and legends found throughout Europe that tell of gods that walked the earth and communicated directly with man. But the UFO’s themselves may have come from the earth, not another planet, and ordinary human beings, not gods, built the magnificent structures that remain to this day.

Devereux’s theories offer much food for thought to people wishing to explore various beliefs about the possible relationship between gods, UFO’s, and ancient sites.

I do believe aliens existed throughout mankind and somehow they help built the ancient monuments. I mean, it always amazes how men without today’s technology can built something so grand! Great article!

I’m not huge on the ancient astronauts theory.
But I like this explanation for UFOs, incredible out of the box thinking. As they say, magic is just something science hasn’t discovered yet.
