Stories of 2012

More 2012 ramblings.

So, let’s just roll with it for a second, the world is going to end on December 21st, 2012. I know it sounds crazy, but some really smart Mayan people from centuries ago say that this is a possibility, and really, when was the last time they lied to us?

Ok, so were all going to die then, the ocean will open up and swallow the earth. Or some gigantic flying ball of fire will fall from the night sky and burn everything we know down to a giant pile of ashes. Maybe it is god punishing all of us for our sins, just like he punished New Orleans and New York City for their sins. With hurricanes that swept away lives and homes and terrorist attacks that crumbled hope and security. Yes, that is what’s going to happen; Nostradamus said so, just like he said Hitler would try to wipe out an entire group of innocent people during World War 2.

I don’t see what the big deal is; we can’t stop something like that. There are people who think that the elite of the world already have underground bunkers set up for a catastrophe such as the end of the world. I wonder; even if this is true, just what do these people intend on doing in the aftermath? Why would one want to live through such a horrific event? Maybe we should all just accept it as a complete possibility and go on living. Maybe we should all take that day off from work or school or whatever it is we have plans to do that day and live the day as if it is indeed our last day on earth.

That sounds good to me. I think I’ll go home a few days before that, and hang out with my parents and sisters and friends. I’ll probably smoke a lot of cigarettes, and drink some PBR. As the day nears an end I will put on my headphones, get lost in some music, and hope for the best. That will be the plan for the day, I think.

Until then, I’m going to busy myself trying to leave a legend of some sort. A story big enough to transcend time and civilizations, is what I’m thinking. Maybe one with some clues for future inhabitants of planet earth; clues about what people in our day and time believed, clues about how we lived, loved, and died. Stories about our rise and our fall as citizens of planet earth. Tall tales, like the ones Greek and Egyptian mythology are made of. The stories of families, and gods, and wars, and plague. Stories of pain and suffering and stories of triumphant and accomplishment.

I think that’s what we should all do until the day of December 21st 2012. Lets record our stories and myths and lets make history.
