Superheroes and that Life Altering Moment

Superheroes are the mainstay of my childhood. They are where many of my believes come from. So where are the superheroes?

At the drop of a hat, if there are superheroes on the loose, on the television or in the theater, people are waiting in line to see the show. There is always some sob story surrounding them, which is why they traveled on the journey they did to stop evil and work within the system.

Batman alias Bruce Wayne lost his parents when he was a child. They were shot at gunpoint while leaving the Opera. He never got over their violent deaths.

Spiderman alias Peter Parker lost his Uncle Ben. He was shot when a robber was looking for a get away car. He wanted his uncle’s vehicle.

Superman alias Clark Kent believed that his powers were meant for something. When his father had a heart attack in the barn and he was powerless to prevent it.

Most superheroes characters have a life altering even that sets them on a particular course to stop the bad guy and to do the right thing. It was because they saw the things they saw they feel the only thing left to do is fight. They stand by their values.

My amazement is that if so many of us are routing for the hero and want them to win. Why aren’t there more heroes out there? Heroes stand up for what they believe in. Do we need that life-altering event to change us so that we are capable of doing what they do? It should not matter that they are stories. If we believe what they do is right, we can be like them, we just have to do what we do, in our own special way.
