The Legendary Origin of Rome

The Legendary Origin of Rome, Fictional, but believed by Ancient Romans.

The Legend of the Origin of Rome

A young woman gave birth to twin boys- Romulus and Remus. They were abandoned and raised by a she-wolf. their Father: Mars ( Aries, God of War in Greece)

When they were young men, Romulus plows a furrow around the Seven hills, enclosing the Seven villages. He commanded the men of each town to build a market place and a palace in the middle. They do so, while Romulus scorns Remus for not being helpful to Roman society.

Mars spoke with Romulus and told him that, so long as his brother does not help, he shouldn’t be allowed to stay, and he was to be given no more chances.

Finally, when Romulus becomes angry enough with Remus, that he kills his brother. Then he leaves a cloud of smoke as he vanishes into the heavens, abandoning the Earth.

The Ancient Romans believed that even after Romulus left, he sent messages via wolves, likely the ones he was raised with.
