The Real History of Fantasy Creatures

Fantasy. One of the most interesting genres in books, movies, videogames, and even T.V shows. It has had a long history, each mystical creature descending from its own part of the world. The, elves, wizards, fairies, and yes the all important dragons have some history from where they came.

The dragon for example had come from has come from the Chinese culture. They were mystical beings with supernatural powers, which were able to drive away evil spirits.  Modern dragons are usually large and threatening, with giant teeth, and able to shoot fire. They are able to fly and they get most of their powers from the moon. Some of them have a human rider, but they are not always incorporated.  Dragons are a symbol of power and grace.

The term for wizards came from all over the worlds referring to all of the people who were magicians using illusions and such. The average wizard usually wears robes, either black or blue, and carries a wand or staff. Some wizards have spell books and an apprentice around with them. But lately, there are new kinds of wizards developing, who don’t need to use spells or wands. They can just bend life to their consent just by concentrating, or saying a few words in a lost language.

The basis for fairies comes from the former Celtic nations of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Britain, and sometimes Germany. It is believed that they used to live among humans many years ago. While history holds tons of tales of fairies in its folklore, a somewhat confused and jumbled mix of several separate superstitions has blended together to give us our present day conception of what a fairy is. These days’ fairies are considered tiny little magical creatures that go around helping other people.

The history of elves started when the story of Santa Clause. They were short, little people who helped Santa make toys for his factory. Modern elves usually have strong powers, are swifter, and more adept than humans in almost everything.  They are usually described as having pointed ears, and very beautiful.
