He who learns the rules of wisdom without conforming to them in his life is like a man who ploughs in his field but does not sow. -Saadi.
THE RESULT OF WISDOM
Text: Daniel 12: 3 – Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who turn many to righteousness will shine like stars forever (New Living Translation).
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom… (Proverbs 9: 10 compare Proverbs 1: 7 and Job 28: 28). There is a promise that the wise will shine in our text. What will make the wise shine brightly? Psalm 31: 19 gives us insight to that. When God’s goodness is upon us, we will shine as light because whatsoever you do will prosper. You will become a role model for others and they will want to emulate you.
Wisdom which is of the Lord guarantees us protection, excellence, favour, breakthrough, grace, goodness, mercies, etc. Check through these things mentioned above, are they not what we desire every day? Are they not the reason for our regular all night prayers, fasting and earnestly wishing that they will be ours? All these can come through the wisdom of God. Do you seek after that wisdom or you apply your own common sense?
Make out time to read the book of Proverbs, which according to Max Lucado is a “Book for Monday to Saturday,” because it emphasises our relationship with fellow human being with whom we have dealings with from Monday to Saturday.
Here, Daniel was envisaging the time when the believers will shine as light, when they will turn to the righteousness of Christ accepting Him as Lord and Saviour. Will you be among them? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour? If you have not, better do it now.
Food for Thought: Do you crave for wisdom?
1. Pray for wisdom from above
2. Pray you will shine as light
