The Truth About Santa
What Santa is doing when he isn’t delivering presents.
Santa cops a lot of flack in our modern society.
‘Of course he’s jolly,’ we laugh, ‘he only has to work one day a year’, but we are mislead in thinking of Santa in this way; for Santa works far more than just one day a year.
When Santa isn’t out delivering presents he wears not his suit of red, but instead wears a suit of hooded black. For Santa, when he is not delivering presents is Death.
He has to be you see; somebody has to be, and the ability to be everywhere at once is not a power that the gods hand out lightly; you see with his power Santa could become an army at anytime; a perfectly coordinated army large enough to swallow worlds.
The very idea makes me shiver, and I think it scares the gods too.
So Santa is the only one empowered so; a man so pure that he will work all year for the smiles of children, and a glass of milk.
No one knows where Santa came from; he is truly old; older even than the living memories of the ageless ones, and, even though it’s blasphemy, I can’t help wondering, did the gods create him; or did he create them?
