Why Sentience Came Into Being

Here is my latest installment to my conspiracy series, it proves to be as eye opening as its predecessors and perhaps even more so. Thanks again to Google for the images. I am currently working on a few alternate reality theories which may prove to be very successful, so be on the look out for them, in the following week.

There are just so many ways in which one can think.

When we look back at all that has transpired before our time……..We are astounded at how ….. In so many occasions , life on earth narrowly escapes extinction.

Do you know….When photosynthetic plants first came into existence, they became one of the most powerful mass murderers in existence.

Why?

Because they released a substance so deadly that a very breath could kill an organism of humongous proportions. Something so deadly …. That it almost stopped life as we know it.

What was it? What could do such a thing?  The answer is all around you.  You just can’t see it. Oxygen.

The very thing that gives us life , took it away in past times.  It was a biological poison of sorts . So why didn’t life end there and then?  Because the organisms evolved.

They evolved to turn the weapon into a boon. This is just one occasion in the vast history of our planet, which portrays the great battle between the two most major enemies in existence. Evolution and extinction. These two have been at it for millenniums. No matter what extinction throws at life, evolution finds a way to surpass it. This is a very interesting way to look at things …most interesting indeed , personifying these too great forces into two separate sides, forever battling each other . None triumphing over the other for too long. Just think about it…Before you continue reading. Now take yourself back…65 million years back. The Cretaceous period. The time of the dinosaurs.

Evolution had made them ultra-efficient. Strong, intelligent, and almost perfect creatures. It was evolutions finest hour. Until extinction retaliated once again. No one knows for sure why the  dinosaurs went extinct all of a sudden. Millions and Millions of years of evolution suddenly gone as if it was never there. The most probable cause , according to paleontologists , is that an asteroid struck earth , literally striping off almost all life on the planet.

I guess extinction had a little help from its interstellar buddies. So evolution was left at a stand still. Or was it? Now if evolution was actually a person, it would probably be a mafia leader. It wasn’t going to say.” Oh well , at least I tried…Too bad…sigh” Evolution is one tough egg to break. It wasn’t  going to stand by…Quietly…when extinction had gained such a great victory. So it unleashed its ultimate weapon. Sentience.

The ability to think for oneself. It was like someone pressed the fast forward button on the VCR. Suddenly….. Beings could think for ourselves. Tricks which took millennia to learn were learnt instantly. Such as teamwork, creativity and unity. Extinction was literally slapped on the face. By gaining the ability to think for ourselves, we gain the ability to change the world for ourselves. Change it, shape it, and help it evolve faster. But sadly sentience is possible only if instinct is minimal. That is why we do not have natural instincts. If we did have them, we would lose the capability to think for ourselves, rather, we would follow our instincts and let them guide us.  So sentience was more of a last resort rather than an ultimate weapon. But it is up to us to change that.

We can change the world. But always remember. All journeys are started with a single…….. Steady ……Step . Not a stride. Not a leap. A step. Always remember who you are. And never forget what matters.Never.

Thank you for reading this, my fellow conspirators. And until we meet next time,  Always remember. Keep conspiring!

A really good well written piece. I can’t argue with that—can only agree.
