Why The 2012 Apocalypse Will Not Happen

The 2012 apocalypse is a hoax, and here is why.

First off, let me start by saying that even the current Mayan People do not believe that this will happen.

I will arrange this article into sections of different 2012 predictions.

NOSTRADAMUS:

Nostradamus was a “prophet” who wrote a book of prophecies.  People claim that he wrote in his book a prediction of the 9/11 tragedy.  Part of one of these predictions reads “the sky will burn at forty – five degrees.  “

New York City is located at roughly 41 degrees North 43 degrees West, not 45.  Another one of his predictions claims that the “great eagle” will come from the sky in the seventh Months of the Year 1999.  As we all know, 9/11 was in 2001.

MAYANS:

The Mayan calendar has been shown to end of December 21, 2012, which is the Winter Solstice.  The Mayans highly valued the solstice Days, and thought them to be Days of great importance.  What most People don’t know is that the calendar ends and renews it self at 0.  This calendar is based on an astrological cycle that is a little over 5,000 Years long.  This is part of a five part cycle that is approximately 25,000 Years long.  This cycle has happened over and over again since the birth of humanity, and nothing has happened.  The ancient Mayans said that the end of each cycle marked the entrance in to a new age of humanity.

SWITCHING OF THE MAGNETIC POLES:

In 2012, the magnetic North and South poles are expected to switch, causing North to be South, and South to be North.  There are many arguements as to how often this happens, but scientists know that it has happened before, and nothing bad happened.  The worst thing that might happen are some natural disasters happening slightly more often.  This has happened before, and it will happen again!

As you can see, the 2012 apocalypse is all a hoax, and many People are trying to use the scare to make a profit, like the new movie 2012, or various sites selling survival gear.  Please don’t be frightened, as this is a natural astrological cycle that has happened many Times before.

Interesting and sort of lightly informed thoughts you have there. I am not saying that the 2012 “End of Days” will happen, but I also am not saying that it won’t. I just want to point out a few issues here:
    1) Nostradamus was born in 1503, and died in 1566. His quatrains were written in 1550-1556. That is a long time before the tragic events of 9/11/01. Based on that info alone, most followers of his way who are not highly knowledgeable of his writings give him a margin of error. Those who actually study more in depth on his life know that he did not use the same calendar that we use today. In the mid 1550s, there was changes made from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar (approximately 14 days faster than the Julian). So, once you crunch the numbers, you will see he was only a few weeks off in his prediction, not too bad considering it was a few hundred years earlier.
    2) The Mayan Calendar runs 5120 years, and has recycled once. According to Mayan legend, the calendar would not fully recycle the second time. Being that this calendar is several thousand years old, and it goes hand in hand with NASA predictions of solar activity, I would say they were doing pretty good in guessing.
    3) You left out many other ancient civilizations who would not have spoken with other nations and yet still predict the same thing. The I Ching comes to mind, amongst others.
Will the world end in 2012, I don’t know. I hope you are right, but I am saving seeds for farming just in case. And I am teaching my kids survival basics (fire, hunting, self defense). Lets hope I am waisting my time with it.
