Have you ever wondered how aliens would contact us in a first contact situation? Oh sure, we’ve seen Contact and believed that Aliens would give us a mathematical hello followed by more interesting science suggestions. But has it ever occurred to you that aliens might just pass by our solar system, here our radio signals, and just stop by for a visit.

No mathematical hello just a ship landing and aliens and humans saying hello. There is no polite way to say this but there is no official first contact greeting plan. We have grown accustom to believing that if ET is out there he would rather stay hidden, that we are of too little importance to them to be taken as a serious threat or a civilization to make contact with. They could be microbial, plants or animal that has no way of leaving its planet to make contact with us.

 Oh sure we have sent out messages to future societies if they find our space probes. But where is our message to greet aliens? Surprise we don’t have one. On that fateful day that aliens land and say hello will we reach out and shake their hands? Maybe this friendly way of saying hello means something bad in their language and ends up starting a war. It could be harmless but who knows? There should be a committee set up to discuss this.  Or it could be us. Maybe ET causes people to get sick then will we point a million tanks at the space craft and ask them to leave?

I know this sounds ridiculous but a lot of movies have made aliens to seem mean and nasty. They could be polite and generous. But everybody on earth will probably hold their breath as our best scientists find ways of communicating with the aliens, Find a way of seating them at the UN so we know there plans and what they want from us. Or it could be that they just were passing by and are now going on their way not to return for a thousand years.

The problem is how do you communicate with aliens. It’s not like we have a rosette stone that tells up about other languages. With alien language we may be stuck to math and science until their language is understood or they understand ours.

 Whatever it is, I know that on the day alien life is discovered, newspaper around the world will be hot of the press asking, all the good alien questions, especially, where do you come from?
