President Under 35?
Hey I am 19, so what?
So I was thinking the other day, why exactly does the President of our U.S. of A have to be 35 years old? It really doesn’t make much sense why we must put an age cap on the most gruel some job our great country has to offer. If anything shouldn’t it be open to whom we deem as worthy of such positions. People freak out thinking that allowing someone younger to run would be outrageous, or just morally and socially destructive. Now by the power vested within each and every one of us to go out every four years on one day to vote, well if we don’t think someone is capable of a job all we have to do is say “nay.” So relax there is the answer to that part of the question.
Last time I checked what were some of the things running our world right now? Well for starters social networks seem to be the new rave, electronics, technology etc… Where do people learn all these great things? University, aha! And who are predominantly college students? Those ages ranging from 18-22 (sometimes you have those little Einsteins or highly motivated parents.) But basically put I believe that the majority of the decision making in to days age is coming from the younger generations. Our society demands ever changing adaptation, old is getting older as time goes by. What was “so five minutes ago” seems to be “so five seconds ago.” It might be me but I think what we need is a little re-vamp in those who are guiding our future, shouldn’t it be directed by those who are about to be living in that near future, not those who have already lived their near future?
