in the case of a major catastrophe in 2012, people need to know what they can do to stay alive. not everyone will have the knowledge of how to handle such an event, but hopefully by reading this, you will rise above the majority, and survive what the less fortunate won’t. in this article, i plan to give you a couple useful tips on how to survive a disaster, if one were to happen in the near future  i.e.-2012

tip number 1- take refuge in your life

the biggest thing you need to remember is that nobody is more important than you are. despite what you may say, your girlfriend or dog comes second, only to you, on your list of priorities. you need to keep yourself alive, no matter what it takes. but you can’t protect yourself by yourself. everything is easier with help. but finding the right help is vital. you need to find somebody you can trust, and is capable of surviving a terrible disaster. make sure this person has great street smarts, because this will serve you better than somebody with a law degree. keep this alliance alive as long as possible, but if your alliance turns into a threat, you need to make a decision that benefits you!

tip number 2- prepare yourself

this tip is fairly simple. you need to be prepared for an event that could possibly cut you off from the rest of the world. this means stocking up on food, water, medical supplies and possibly weapons. if you were to be stuck in your house with no electricity for up to 5 days, would you be ready? remember that water is your best friend, so have enough drinkable water to last you for a long time. and also stock up on canned foods, as they don’t go bad as quickly as other foods. and have lots of medical supplies, such as medicine, bandages and other important materials. weapons can also be useful, so make sure you have some ways to defend yourself upon attack.
