The Future: What Kind of Future Would You Want?

The future is a certain uncertainty that has no true definition—a definition for what will occur within a set length of time—we only have a vague idea of basic details relating to technological development, though that’s also a uncertainty of what could be discovered or the ideas of moral and ethics slowing down genetic-science. But this article isn’t meant to delve into subjects of progression; this article about choice or humorous-choice about what you would want to have as a future.

Blade Runner:

The Earth is fucked over, the setting is barely ten years away and it’s raining film-noir style all the time—personally I wouldn’t have it any other way if I got the choice to have that kind of future. Nothing better than waking up to have the full realisation of what’s ahead smack you clearly in the face by the gloominess embedded into every single waking moment, but that’s ok when you get out and feel the rain bring back some sense of sanity to the world slowly crumbling away.

Star Trek:

I would’ve said Star Wars but that’s set in the past—duh—Star Trek is a future where everyone has been cultivated to accept the society of flawlessness. Not exactly a future I would want to go about—everyone doesn’t have to earn a living and oddly, the society of Star Trek seems to have the ability to please everyone at the same time. No thanks.

Fallout:

Like Blade Runner except it doesn’t rain, no gloomy atmosphere (sort of), retro styled robot roam the land instead of super advanced Replicant machines and you can wake up with a sense of renewal. Though, it’s best to keep in mind that you have a decent pair of legs ready for travelling the wastelands, but I wouldn’t mind the exercise and it be fun to run in complete fear of Raiders and Mutant ready to rip me apart–from the simple fact I was there in the first place—on a daily basis and in the sun.

Thought of the Day: October 5th:

Began to read an interest Sci-Fi novel from Japanese; really good and has me questioning what could happen next with each page—it read quickly and really gets the plot moving, though I do certain elements to do with one of the characters.
