What to Do When I Can Not Stop Obsessing Tomorrow

Do you find your mind racing a mile a minute at the thought of having to talk about a situation with your ex? Or maybe you have anxiety when thinking about the next time you both will be in court.

Do you find your mind racing a mile a minute at the thought of having to talk about a situation with your ex? Or maybe you have anxiety when thinking about the next time you both will be in court.

Being present in the moment can be difficult to do;? Especially when you have stressful events coming up on your calendar. It can be hard to focus on the tasks you need to accomplish today.

We insist that the future is counterproductive. But you may find it difficult to keep the mind focused on the present. When the mind is occupied obsession about future events, what usually happens is that you just feed in your own anxiety. Logically, we know that we have no control over the future. But sometimes the mind just wants to go to other places and you are getting all wound up.

I know for me, if I start projecting what would become a future situation, the result I’m most likely viewing a train wreck. My fears begin to overtake common sense. Then I start to lose sleep, and by the time the event rolls around I’m tired, stressed and do not deal with the situation as well as I could have. All this feeds my anxiety, and then the cycle will repeat only in the next stressful event.

So what to do? Let me give you two techniques to stay present today:.

1. Take a ‘break today. When you feel obsessed with a future event close your eyes and concentrate on the sounds around you. Perhaps listening to the pounding of his office neighbor click away on your keyboard, a bird singing outside, or the rhythm of your breathing. Concentrate, and if you find your mind slipping away … Gently pull back to what is happening around you. Do this for five minutes and you will feel more at peace and return today.

2. When I have ‘user’ happens in my brain, I’m usually projecting a future conversation in my head. It goes something like this. I’ll tell you, he will say that B and then I will respond with C. If he says that D, then I will respond with the E and so on. Sounds familiar.

What I find is that if I visualize a hamster in a cage running on a wheel (a wheel loud and shrill!) And go ahead faster. When you’re running really fast, then I imagine that putting a stick between the spokes for the wheel to stop immediately. The Flying Hamster image is enough to put a smile on my face. I remember that I’m going round and round like hamsters and meeting other than raise blood pressure.

You can find on the principle that you may need to do one (or both!), Several times a day. Like anything else in life, the more you practice, the better you get to pull your mind again today.

Overtime come to realize that their time is much better spent enjoying now,. Rather than let it go. Tomorrow will take care of itself.
