I keep wondering about this topic. Why? Well, when I was feeling less than affluent, I considered that finding a sugardaddy might by my answer. After all, I’m young(ish), cute(ish), in shape(ish) and intelligent(ish). So I googled "gay sugar daddy" and was surprised to find a number of references.

For those of you who are reading in hopes of landing one yourself, well, there are a few websites available for this. The profiles of their members are different, but I guess there are some real sugar daddies on there if you look hard enough. However, I was not surprised to find that most of the members are actually sugarbabies (the terms of those of us hoping to land a wheezing, 90 year old millionaire). It turns out that there are more people wanting to score Anna Nicole style than vice versa.

I guess I am a sugar baby. Well, maybe not. I actually earn a descent salary and really don’t have expensive tastes (unless you count a Mercedes, Prada, Gucci and vacations to Fiji). But once I started researching and looking around, I quickly realized that there are a lot of true sugar daddies out there, but they are not going to be what you expected. For example, there are many wealthy men who are not conspicuous. They drive Ford Tauruses, live in modest homes and quite conservatively at that. The uber-wealthy do not advertise for a date – they don’t need to.

Then I got thinking about meeting some nice guy who is wealthy but modest. He’s probably hard-working and financially conversative. I’m hard-working and financially conservative. He’s probably pretty low-key but intelligent. I’m pretty low-key but intelligent. He’s probably fairly conscientious about the motives of the guys he dates. I’ve been fairly conscientious about the motives of the guys I’ve dated. That was when I realized, would I ever hand over a monthly allowance or give a new car to some guy I’ve dated? Hell, no. I would share what I could provided I could see indications of mutual contribution. I might treat him to a vacation or nice outfit from time to time, but it would certainly end there. If I met someone as generous as I could see myself being in a similar situation, I would be grateful.

So do sugar daddies exist? I suppose they do. But remember, there are millionaires living all around you but just as you cannot easilty ascertain who they are, they are not going to readily admit it. Be yourself, be respectful and be independent and let love find you for what it is worth…everything else will fall into place.
