Gay & Lesbian Marriages
Gay and lesbian mariage rights.
It is my opinion that anyone no matter who they are should be aloud to get married. It shouldn’t matter what religion, race, color, or sexual orientation they are. There are so many different parts of the constitution that protect gays and lesbians. Some of them being the right to privacy and the right to live as a family and the equal protection. Even the army has the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy now when it comes to being gay. Not only do I think they should be aloud to get married, I also believe they should be aloud to have all the benefits of a marriage.
Some of those benefits include insurance benefits, retirement benefits, divorce and anything else that any married couple can have in life. Think about this a married couple takes out an insurance policy on one another; they live sixty or seventy years. In the mean time the insurance company is receiving payments on those premiums during those years. Think of how much money the company is making off on that one policy. Now think of this that one policy could turn into hundreds of thousands of policies in this country if gays and lesbians were aloud to be married. Then think of this too. If gays and lesbians are aloud to adopt a child wouldn’t it give that child even more stability if the couple were married? That is what they tell strait couples that their children would have more stability if they were married.
For the well being of children, many states are now allowing gays and lesbians a chance to adopt. This is giving them wonderful and loving homes. If they allow this then why is the government giving so many problems on this issue? Why are they allowing religious beliefs to interfere with what is just and constitutional? The constitution says that all people have the right to choose their religion or to have free speech and it even says we have the right to pursue happiness. Well if it makes two people who are the same sex happy to be with one another then why not let them be. It is no one else’s concern. They are not hurting anyone.
We have many freedoms given to us by the constitution but we are also supposed to be separated between church and state. I take this to mean that the religious organizations cannot interfere with the government and the constitution and that the government cannot interfere with the religious practices as long as it does not go against the constitution. Gays and lesbians are protected against discrimination on many different parts of the constitution, why should this one aspect of their lives be any different?
What they do in their own home or how they live their own life is none of our business if they wish to have children or get married then who are we to judge? Even the bible says, “Judge not lest ye be judged!” so why do we do it? I guess that is one question I will never be able to answer. I say anyone should be able to get married if they wish. Let them live their life how they see fit. You do not want anyone telling you can’t get married so why should you tell them they can’t?
