Is Homosexuality a Choice?

Is homosexuality a choice? A look inside.

This is a widely controversial issue that affects the entire globe. People have been debating this issue for some time now, and for some reason, there hasn’t been a clear explanation. Maybe there is no clear explanation, but as you’ll read on, I’ll explain why I don’t think it is a choice. Why is this topic so bothersome to some people out there? What is it that they feel really effects their lives?

So many gay people have been harassed, beaten, and even murdered just because of their sexual orientation. For some reason, people are threatened by the idea of another man being with another man and a woman being with another woman.

This is where my major point comes in….why would someone choose to be gay knowing the danger that could potentially come along with it? No one would and that is a fact! Homosexuals are threatened all the time to the point of severe emotional distress that even sometimes, ends in suicide. It would only be logical to choose to be straight if you had a choice because it is more widely accepted in our ignorant culture. This is my biggest problems because I feel like when I defend this topic, I am saying that being gay results in a bad lifestyle, because I’m not at all. I think being gay is a great thing and I am all for equal rights. I strictly do believe that it is biological and not a choice.

Why can’t people see this logic and understand that it is not a choice. Sure, there are people out there who like to experiment with all kinds of things, including homosexuality or bisexuality, but that is specific to that individual. Every gay person that I’ve talked to has told me that they think they were born that way and they definitely did not choose to be gay. I completely agree and sympathized with him on the sole fact that people still debate this issue.

Shouldn’t it be enough evidence that all gay people say it is not a choice and that they are born that way? Straight people shouldn’t people allowed to make that decision because they didn’t have to make a choice either. If you ask a straight person, did you choose to be straight, they would answer no. Of course, this only makes sense. No one chooses their sexual orientation, its natural. It’s in our chemical makeup.

People also base the fact that the Bible says that homosexuality is a sin on the reasoning for their ignorance. I can’t imagine god sending all of the gay people to hell even though they didn’t do anything wrong. If god created everyone, then he instilled the ability to choose to be gay, therefore, he wouldn’t have allowed us that simple thought. I think its ridiculous people base their judgements off of the bible when not everyone believes in god. About 20% of the US has declared they are atheists. This number used to be around 10% back in the 1990s. It is rapidly growing because people are seeing the danger it can cause, especially to homosexuals.

I just think people need to think hard about this and seriously ask themselves, did I choose to be straight…or gay?

We must convert from one thing to another.
