Is Homosexuality a Personal Choice or are You Born with It?

Do you believe that you can be born a homosexual? For most people they believe that homosexuality is a personal choice, while I believe that you are born with it.

I have never met anyone that goes to sleep heterosexual and wakes up a homosexual, have you? I believe in confusion with your sexual orientation but just not waking up one morning with the thought in your mind that now you want to be a gay or lesbian.

I believe that people that think homosexuality is a personal choice are just uneducated people that have no desire to truly understand personal differences. Ignorance breeds hate and hate is the basis of discrimination in this world.

I believe that when you are born your sexual orientation is already decided, whether you know it or not. It is much like fate, it just happens. It’s like whether you are going to have blonde hair or brown hair, or green or blue eyes. You could say it is almost genetic.

If homosexuality wasn’t so Taboo, I think the number of people living in silence about their sexual orientation would astound the world.

People need to be less ignorant and close-minded and embrace people for who they are. Homosexuality is not a preference you chose, it is something inside of you from the day you are born.

There is actually quite bit of prrof behind this subject. they have found that the lesbian’s brain is more structurally similar to the male’s brain and that the gay man’s brain is more structurally similar to a woman’s brain. They have also found that Gay men are born wiht more estrogen than testosterone and lesbian women with more testorsterone than estrogen. These hormones define what makes a man a man and a woman a woman. Estrogen has the effect of making someone more attracted to men and testosterone has the effect of making people more attracted to women. But, I suppose if scientific findings aren’t enough proof for you then there is the moral side of the issue. If you look at how many less rights homosexuals and homosexual couples have to enjoy as well as the discrimination, prejudice and social injustice they face form politicians, their peers, employers and even religious people, whom I thought were supposed to love all of God’s creatures then it makes no sense whatsoever that anyone would choose to be homosexual. Imagine that you, sir, Dion, were a white person during the civil rights movement when African-Americans were treated as second class citizens and often were not allowed to marry who they loved (inter-racial marriages were illegal). Would you, as a white person, ever in your lifetime CHOOSE to be an African-American? I can only see someone living in that kind of society where they were treated as second class citizens if they were born that way and could not help how they looked.

    Philo,

If studies have been performed where gay men have estrogen than testosterone, did they do further investigation into the levels of these chemicals in birth parents? Also these levels can vary in the mother depending on a vary of factors such as birth control pills, chemical treatments, drugs, ect. The proof lies in the genes, and to date no \”homosexual\” gene has been found, scientists with agendas can say that they believe one exists, but without proof that is saying that the boogeyman is real.

    Sean,

My Scientific examples were simply hypotheses meant to show that many scientists are working on the subject and I highly doubt that all of them are working baselessly or have not already achieved some kind of advancement geneticaaly as to the origin of homosexuality. Do you have any commentary on the second part of my argument?

I agree with Philo in post # 2 I mean I have a gay cousin and he acts more like a female than a male and considering the fact that I think that I could be a lisbian in some ways I’m more of a tom boy sort of female. But I tend to wear more attractive clothing, sort of.

I have living, breathing proof. Who? Me of course. Ever since I was just a toddler, I felt more of a Male than a Female and felt normal about it. Seriously, I had no choice, I can’t change back then, not even now. Around Kindergarden to grade 8 I was very strongly attracted to the Same-sex. Therefore, I was born with it.

To everyone here being gay is a choice point blank. Without getting to bible minded you can be born with thoughts or feeling that going a certain way but it\’s your choice on how to deal with them. You choose who you want to be with, right? So why asks for rigths for a particular lifestyle you choose. That\’s like saying when I drive my vehicle and someone cut\’s me off, i think to myself I should kill that creep, so am I a murder because of a strong feeling that came over me. Certainly not! Choose doesnt give you rights!
