Last 100 Years of Lesbian Lifestyle

Lesbians never needed any law to protect their rights as lesbians.

Being a lesbian, historically, was not much of a problem.

One would be an ‘old maid’, a ‘ladies companion’, even a ‘witch’ or ‘vestal virgin’.  I am sure many women who went into nunneries were lesbians.

In the not so distant past where hetero sexual mores were such that virginity (in women) was prized, it was far easier to maintain one’s integrity. No man could demand so much as a kiss.

It was fairly easy in those days to mask, especially taking into consideration male heterosexual behaviour. Although I am not holding lesbians or homosexuals up as a idols, the unfaithful heterosexual husband is ‘normal’. The prevalence of prostitution proves it.

The woman ’sold’ into marriage might only have a year or so to suffer before her husband takes his unwanted attention elsewhere. Ignoring all those Christian values people preach about but rarely practice; the majority of men are not faithful to their wives. His wife’s ‘coldness’ will ‘force’ him into the arms of another woman…how many times has one heard that? How many times has one imagined that maybe, just maybe the wife was a lesbian?

Being a lesbian was not problematic in the ‘bad old days’. One was married to a man without the imagination of love, and after ‘closing her eyes and thinking of England’ a few times, hubby would go back to his mistresses, leaving wife to her own life.

As many husbands were much older than their wives, it was more than likely he’d die within a few years and she’d be freed.  She was in no worse position than her hetero widowed sister, in fact, because the idea of male/female ‘love’ was out of the question she could marry for money or property a perfectly disgusting man she could outlive.

She could, as a respectable widow become ‘lady’s companions.’ Many of these companions were the lesbian lovers of the lady. Simply put, lesbians didn’t and don’t need special recognition save to distinguish themselves from the male homosexual agenda.

No one raises an eyebrow when two women rent a flat, or go into a business partnership.  It is only if the partners are in the habit of public shows of affection that the public would think of lesbianism.

So where male homosexuals and females who have bought into the ‘Gay’ agenda need the public acknowledgment, radical lesbian feminists are turned off, only holding their tongue so as not to appear to create dissension.

Lesbians were always present in the social life of this planet. Although, many religions don’t want to acknowledge that fact.

The point is that lesbians ‘coped’ with life on their terms w/o needing any special legislation or permission.
