List of Words in the Gay World Defined
This is an installment of GLBT World:the Series. Part Two-List of Words in the Gay World Defined.
- Gay-A man who is sexually and romantically attracted to other men.
- Lesbian-A woman who is sexually and romantically attracted to other women.
- Bisexual-A person, male or female, who is sexually and romantically attracted to both men and women.
- Trisexual-A person who is able to have sex with men, women, and ones self.
- Pansexuals/Omnisexuality-The potential for attraction, romance, love, or sexual desire for people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex. Most pansexuals are “gender blind.” They consider a person’s gender insignificant, or irrelevant in determining whether they will be attracted to that particular person. For pansexuals, it’s mostly about what is in a person’s heart, or their personality.
- Trans-gender-Commonly used to include both transsexuals and transvestites.
- Transsexual-People who, though they were born with the body of one sex, feel like they are really a person of the other sex.
- Transvestite-People who like to wear clothes associated with the other sex.
- Drag King-A woman who likes to dress up as a man for the primary purpose of putting on a show and having fun for a brief time. Drag Kings do not desire to truly be a man on a full time basis. They just like the dress up process.
- Drag Queen- A man who likes to dress up as a woman for the primary purpose of putting on a show and having fun for a brief time. Drag Queens do not desire to truly be a woman on a full time basis. They just like the dress up process.
- GLBT-Common acronym used to encompass the four main categories in the gay world: Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender.
