Preference Problems
I wrote this about a month ago when I had an argument with a fellow classmate about gay people.
Preference Problems (Directed Towards Straight People)
I am so tired of some straight people being disgusted with us bi’s, gays, and lesbians. Here are my problems:
So the straight people are saying we’re nasty: So what. You’re nasty too. At least I can find someone, and you have to jack off in the shower by yourself.
Straight people ask us why we are the way we are: What kinda question is that? We’re are because we’re are. Why are YOU straight??? Why are you? You can’t answer it can you?
Straight people are saying that we have a choice to be gay or straight: What the fuck is wrong with you guys? It’s not a choice. You can’t just wake up one day and say, “Oh, hey, I’m gonna be gay now!” It’s just not possible. Why would anyone go and choose to subject to remarks, discrimination, and stereotypes??? You guys didn’t choose to be straight. You just are. It’s the same for us. You can’t just flick a switch and be straight. Orientations can change, though, albeit VERY slowly. Almost always, it doesn’t change, but it is possible…but not by choice. I wouldn’t say you’re born like that. You’re taught to be straight, right? So was I, but my feelings and attractions changed over a long period.
Striahgt people tell us to stop being gay/les/bi: How can we do that? It’s the same as above…we don’t have a choice.
I don’t understand why straight people are so mean towards “different” people. What if the majority of people were “different”? Then you would feel bad because you were being picked on for being straight.
A lot of people also say we’re that way to get attention. Yes, thats true in some cases, but there are tons and tons of teens who really truly ARE bi/gay/les/tran, and not by choice.
I’m done with my little tirade now. You can go back to do whatever it is you were doing. I hope this maybe changed your mind…

I am a straight teen and I believe, that it is not a choice to be gay, lesbian, or bi. And even if it is, why should we question a choice? My family and I believe that gayness should be respected because they are humans, equals to us, so why should be try to deny them the right to adopt children or get married?

I can understand where homophobia started. thousands of years ago, we needed people badly. There was a “shortage” of people. So if you were gay, you did not contribute to reproduction, and that was a bad thing. In order for you to pass on your genes you had to have 15 kids, as most of them died before adulthood. There was a real need to reproduce like rabbits. If early man did not, then humans would have died out.
There is a famous study done many years ago with monkeys. Four monkeys were put in a large cage with 4 bowls of food. Any time any of the monkeys touched the food in the green bowl, they all got a shock. Soon they learned to avoid the green bowl. Then the power to the bowl was turned off, but they still avoided the green bowl, for fear of a shock. One of the monkeys was replaced. The new monkey went to eat from the green bowl because he did not know about the shock. The other three monkeys, trying to avoid the shock, beat him up, even though there was no longer any shocks administered. Every time the new monkey went near the green bowl he’d get beat up. Then another of the original monkeys was replaced and he too was beat up by the other monkeys, including the one who was never shocked, only beat up. Eventually all the original monkeys were replaced, and the green bowl was still taboo. These monkeys were allowed to breed. After several generations, the green bowl was still taboo. Any time a monkey went near the green bowl, it would get beat up by the other monkeys. The monkeys had no reason to beat up the ones that went near the yellow bowl, they had never been shocked. It was just evil to eat from the green bowl, and if the monkeys could talk, they would not have had a logical reason to fear the green bowl, except to say it’s not right to eat from the green bowl, and anybody who does, should be punished.
Lets not be monkeys. In the modern world, is there any reason to hate/fear gays? C’mone people lets allow others to eat from the green bowl. The reasons for being anti-gay went away thousands of years ago. You don’t have to eat from the green bowl, but don’t beat somebody up because they choose to do what you think is evil.
